The Big Day!
It was such a lovely day and I’m so happy I got to be apart of it all. We will have more pictures to share when the professional ones come in but for you now you can totally see that Bethany was a glowing bride!
Looking back on the big day, Bethany has 3 pieces of advice for future brides:
1. Have a day of wedding coordinator.
This helped the flow of the wedding go oh so smoothly as the coordinator took care of any behind the scenes issues without bothering Bethany. This was especially important since Bethany had done a majority of the planning and would have automatically been the go-to person without the coordinator there to intercede.
2. Make sure you eat something!
It can be so easy to be visiting with everyone you forget sit down and eat. Tell someone else to remind or even force you to eat during the reception. I have even been to wedding where the MC reminds everyone to give the bride and groom a few minutes to be alone and eat.
3. Create a plan ahead of time for how you, as a couple, want to greet people during the reception.
A few options to discuss are:
- stay on the dance floor and let people come to you
- go around to each table together
- receiving line
Other tips:
Try your best have a debt free wedding.
It creates such a different feeling after the wedding without a pile of bills to pay off. Bethany and Eric had to be clear about their priorities to stay within budget and that means there were a few things that were cut. One sacrifice was postponing a large honeymoon in exchange for a few nights away.
Have an unplugged ceremony.
This was a last minute decision that really made the ceremony special.
As Bethany describes, it wasn’t a perfect day but it was a beautiful day!
No Let’s Organize all that Post-Wedding Stuff!
Right after Bethany’s wedding, Laura Ellis’ article YAY, You Got Married! Now Let’s Organize All that Wedding Stuff from her website Organized by Ellis, landed right in my inbox. It was like it was meant to be!
Laura goes though the types of paraphilia left over after a wedding and what she recommends, so be sure to click over to her article to read the details.
If you are curious what I did with my wedding dress, I took a cue from Friends and hang out in my dress on a yearly basis.
