I’ve always loved the ease of Command Hooks. They are especially perfect for non-committal types (like me). A hook wherever I want without an ugly hole in the wall (because I know I will change my mind on hook placement). Count me in!
They are perfect for hanging any number of things, especially inside cabinets. A small dust pan and broom, measuring cups, and bibs are all hidden away, yet are still quick to grab and go. I used them in multiple places in our old home including the laundry closet.
During a recent office store visit I saw these picture hanging strips staring right back at me. “Why hello”, they said. I knew I wanted to give them a try in our new house.
I have a small area right next to the garage entry that will be a little mini-launch pad. A perfect place to drop all your stuff as you come in like this or really any of these.
My launch pad plans will take awhile to materialize because I haven’t been able to park in the garage (yet!) with all of our in progress projects. So for now, our front door entry is the makeshift launch pad.
When we start using the garage for cars again, we’ll enter the house through that door instead of the front door. The shoes will eventually move out to the garage. And once the dust settles, I’ll add some hooks and possibly a bench or a small side table to store my action files.
But the 1st step towards making this little corner a space to launch our day, is to hang up a DIY corkboard. The perfect place is right next to the fridge so it will be practically hidden from view. Visual clutter is clutter too!
Since I hate to mare the new white cabinets with nail holes, here is where the picture hanging strips get to shine.
You just put one strip on each corner. It is a lot like Velcro but with easy adhesive removal just like Command Hooks.
Once I removed the protective plastic strips, my level and a little pressure were the only tools needed. Super easy.
I also hung up the girls chore charts right below the corkboard. I measured and spaced out how close I wanted the frames, then lightly marked the cabinet wall.
We are still hashing these new chore charts out, but I’ll share them soon. We are currently experiencing some user error.
Mostly likely the chores charts will be revamped. When that day comes, the velcro-like tabs will make it easy to remove the frames, keep the adhesive backing in place, and rehang them when I’m ready.
In Conclusion
pros:
- no nail holes
- simple to use
- removable
cons:
- expensive
Have you used these happy, little hanging strips before? And really, how are chores going at your home? Tips?
