Are you always switching your furniture around? I used to be addicted to rearranging. My college roommate would come home to find me moving around the furniture once again. I loved the big change just moving one piece of furniture could make. (Dusting and vacuuming all the hidden nooks and crannies is an extra bonus too.)
Well for the past five years our couch has been in the same exact spot, pushed against the window.
I’ve tried little tweaks here and there, but no major moves. The couch is just too big for the room, which limits the workable room configurations (and a new couch just isn’t in the budget). With a front door, an immovable cable outlet, and a cutout with cabinets on the other wall, I have felt stuck.
In honor of all the other changes taking place lately, it is only fair for the furniture to get a little piece of the action. I may be talking crazy talk, but really I hear that your furniture should not all be pushed against the wall? Also, I am still loving all the benefits the relocation of my desk gave me.
Here is what I came up with.
It is so different then what we are used to. It cuts our already small living space in half. To make it work, I swapped out the pink chair in our bedroom for the chaise portion of the couch, otherwise the couch would stretch into our dining room.
But surprisingly the reorganization makes it feel like we have two rooms; a sitting/TV room and an office/playroom. (Pay no attention to the palm sitting on a book. I am trying anything to make it look taller and voluptuous, i.e. healthy.)
Look at it in action! Surprisingly, there is still room to play.
In reality, our “sitting room” has turned into a coloring/laundry folding area. My husband is already wondering when it is going back to normal, but I think it’s growing on him.
Are you always switching your furniture around? Or do you find the perfect look and never look back?

It’s funny you mentioned moving furniture around in college. My roommate and I were notorious for deciding around 10:30 at night we wanted to move our room around. Our neighbors downstairs must have hated us! Luckily, we lived in a dorm so they never seemed to care. I have to agree that moving furniture around helps give the space a new feel and look and just shines a whole new light on the room. I love what you’ve done with your space!

Hi I also like to reorganizing my furniture and some times replace furniture to have a big change in my room. I have a great addiction on decorating my house! I always keep my house well decorated. I like to furnish my house with white furniture because white is a color of peace and it creates an illusion of space within a small room.
