I don’t usually squeal, but when I saw what my husband brought home last Friday, I couldn’t help myself! I squealed and then giddily asked, “Is that for me?”
I’ve been pinning pictures of old crate and pallet projects, so his find was perfectly timed.
I haven’t tackled any of those pinned projects on my own, but I love keeping them for inspiration (even if it’s just as reminders to repurpose and reuse)! As soon as I saw the crate, I knew exactly what I wanted to use it for: hiding cords!
Ever since my furniture switch-a-roo, our basket of cords and techy stuff has been hanging out in the open.
The cords were never meant to be out in the open, but hidden under the beloved pink chair. Yes, the basket is under there!
I swapped this cabinet (a recent garage sale find) with the pink chair, but now there is no room to store the cords underneath.
Until now. The crate works perfectly! I’m finding there are no limits when finding solutions to hide pesky cords.
Last time I left the cords all in a jumble (we all have our lazy days) but this time I knew that would not do. Especially after we’ve been reaping the benefits of our nightstand drawer turned charging station.
The new crate slipped, err.. tightly squeezed under the soon-to-be painted cabinet. Good thing it only needs to be accessed twice a year or so! There is still room for ventilation once the cords are hidden but my husband is planning on notching out a few more holes just to be safe.
One day maybe I’ll stain or paint the crate. We’ll see. First I have to decide on a funky color for the cabinet. I am trying to convince my husband that a bright, sunny yellow will look great. Maybe spring is getting to me!
What are your tricks for keeping cords contained? Anyone else been repurposing found items? Are you starting to feel a little spring fever too?
