With only a days left until Valentine’s Day, these simple activities will get you in a loving mood without a whole lot of effort and time. Ready?
Turn a simple thumbprint cookie into a heart-shaped sweet. We used a peanut butter and jelly thumbprint recipe from Martha Stewart. With two thumb imprints instead of the usual one, we transformed our cookie into a heart-filled Valentine treat.
My food photography may leave a bit to be desired, but believe me, they were delicious and fun to make with the kiddos.
Another clever way to get your sweets into the heart-shaped spirit is to use marbles and cupcake liners to make any cupcake or muffin into a heart shape.

I haven’t tried this yet; I still need to buy liners. Actually, I might hold off a month and make a shamrock by using two more marbles like Kira suggested.
Of course Valentine’s Day isn’t all about eating sweets. Those candy hearts are perfect to use for sorting and graphing by color, a fun activity for any preschooler. You could also save this project for the day after Valentine’s day and use all the loot brought home from classroom parties.
