Have I mentioned I liked Pinterest? I may have proclaimed my love a few times! Today I have a prime example of why this site is just so addicting and fun. Without Pinterest I would have never found this brilliant organizing solution by Spunky Junky.
After seeing this contraption, I knew I could aspire for more. It was time to tackle my own ribbon mess stuffed in a drawer.
My ribbons are mostly second-hand, carefully saved from the beautifully wrapped gifts given to my family. They do not have rolls that would leave them at least somewhat organized. I needed to find another way to corral the various sized ribbons.
I love it when I can find inexpensive or free organizing solutions, especially when the thing I’m organizing was free to begin with like my little ribbon collection! To make this project, toilet paper rolls seemed to be the thriftiest answer to my roll-less problems (I am so inspired, I am making up words now). I enlisted my family to collect tp rolls until I had enough to tackle my project.
A simple piece of tape keeps the ribbon on the role.
Maybe it is because I am so smitten with the original project featured in the pinterest picture, or maybe it was because I already had the white spray paint out, but I suddenly felt compelled to give my repurposed blue basket a once over with white spray paint. Totally unnecessary but a strong desire welled up inside so I went with it.
Organizing by the Numbers
-$.98 for the wooden dowel, cut into 3 sections
– $0.00 Already owned the blue basket. (I bought it at the $1 store eight years ago which explains where there is a crack on the side but still totally usable.)
-Spray Paint was leftover from another project
-Free toilet paper rolls
Total cost= $.98
It is a perfect fit and a totally thrifty solution! Best of all this project actually makes me want to use my ribbons. Before, I dreaded sorting through the tangled mess, but now of all the ribbons have a home!
Anyone else made any fun projects after being inspired during a Pinterest picture browsing session?
