After finding solutions for my dad’s cabinet clutter, it was time to turn my attention to my own disheveled cabinets. What I found was not pretty.
After an unsupervised fort clean-up (meaning the girls just shoved the blankets in the cabinet) and a shelf now designated for bottle storage, the hall linen cabinet needed some attention. (My husband is perfecting his homemade brew and so the lower cabinet is the cool, dark place he needed.) The towels which were once stored on the lower shelf were smashed together in the upper shelf to make the room.
Even once you find homes for everything, it’s great to revisit your spaces to give them the spruce up or overhaul they might need. Especially as your needs for the space change, don’t be afraid to move things around to find what works best for you and your family.
My cabinets definitely needed some focused attention but I didn’t want to spend all day in there. 10 minutes should be the perfect amount of time and then I can get on to what matters most in my day.
No more chit chatting, it is time to set the timer for 10 minutes and get started.
After only 5 minutes, I felt satisfied with my progress.
Towels are folded and separated, with beach towels housed on one shelf and bath towels on the other. Simple enough, but there is still a pile of sheets in the hall.
I deemed one set of sheets as a give away and decided to store the other in the girls’ closet with their extra blankets. After another 5 minutes, my cabinets are in a state of peace once again.
Two cabinets organized in 10 minutes and I can now get on to the rest of my day. The remaining cabinets can wait for another 10 minutes, another day.

That is quite a man, 3 times in one night without waking you up. I am impressed! It works better for me this way too. They are stored where I use them. Thanks for sharing!

we store our kids bedding in their rooms too. we used to store everything in the linen closet but its a lot smaller in this house than we used to have, and so we made this the thing that moved out of there. It proved to be useful when my son got a bout of vomiting overnight and needed his bed changing 3 times during the night as my husband could just grab sheets from the wardrobe rather than disturbing me and the new baby everytime (the linen closet is in our room).
